Ptt triexta polyester carpet fibers also known as smartstrand and corterra ptt polytrimethylene terephthalate is a polyester fiber with better resilience than pet. Polypropylene is the fastest growing carpet fiber in popularity. It has a tendency to become fuzzy as fibers deteriorate and to pill like polyester. These yarns are offered in a range of deniers which are twisted and heat set.

It is naturally stain and fade resistant. Pure acrylic fiber is more popular for scatter rugs. Soiling is different from staining. Acrylic is not as durable as wool nor as resilient.

With a stain the substance has come into contact with the fiber and embedded itself by attaching to open dye sites in the fiber.
